What happened to MTFE? Is it legit?

Collapsed Ponzi app (August 2023)

MTFE ("Metaverse Foreign Exchange") was a Ponzi mobile app dressed as an AI-trading platform. It collapsed in August 2023, freezing balances for tens of thousands of users across Bangladesh, Nigeria and other markets — then demanded further deposits to "unlock" funds, the classic final act. It was never licensed anywhere.

Who you actually contract with

  • No licence in any jurisdiction. The in-app "AI trading profits" were fabricated numbers (documented by The Business Standard’s investigation of the collapse).
  • Growth ran on MLM-style recruitment bonuses — members earned for bringing deposits, not from any trading.

Verified findings — with sources

  • Collapse documented August 2023; users reported balances wiped and "unlock fee" demands (The Business Standard; Nigerian press covered local victims).
  • Successor apps recycling the same model appear continuously — the MTFE search traffic today is largely people being pitched the next one.

We publish only findings we verified against regulators' own releases, registers, or the broker's own disclosures — and we name the source. Unverified claims circulating online are excluded.

Before any money moves

  • Any app promising fixed daily "AI trading" returns with recruitment bonuses is this scheme with a new name
  • The one-minute test that kills them all: deposit small, withdraw immediately — schemes fail it every time

Frequently asked questions

Can MTFE victims recover their money?

There is no official process — the operators were anonymous and unlicensed. Paid "recovery agents" contacting victims are a follow-up scam. Report to your local cybercrime authority and warn your recruitment upline/downline.

How do I spot the next MTFE?

Fixed daily returns, an app not a regulated broker, recruitment bonuses, and pressure to compound rather than withdraw. Run any platform through our free Broker Checker before depositing — it takes thirty seconds.
